PREMIERE EPISODE WATCHED BY 2.5 MILLION VIEWERS

NEW EPISODE OF TWO-TIME EMMY-NOMINATED SERIES “INTERVENTION” GARNERS 2.1 MILLION VIEWERS WITH SEASON HIGH AUDIENCES IN KEY DEMOS

NEW YORK, NY August 18, 2009 A&E’s Monday night lineup of the hit two-time Emmy-nominated series “Intervention” and the premiere of the new series “Hoarders” garnered huge audiences last night from 9pm-11pm. The series premiere of “Hoarders” at 10PM was watched by 2.5 million total viewers and a record 1.8 million viewers in adults 18-49 and 25-54, becoming the most watched series premiere in network history in 18-49 and tied for the most watched series premiere in 25-54 (“Dog the Bounty Hunter” and “Growing Up Gotti” in summer of 2004).

“Hoarders” was joined by a new episode of “Intervention” at 9PM which was watched by 2.1 million viewers and season highs in both adults 18-49 (1.6 million) and 25-54 (1.4 million). Both series grew half-hour to half-hour against tough Monday night competition, including a premiere episode of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”

“Hoarders” takes a fascinating look at the lives of people whose inability to part with their belongings is so out of control that they are on the verge of a personal crisis. Whether they’re facing eviction, the loss of their children, jail time, or divorce, they are all desperately in need of help. The series captures the drama as experts work to put each hoarder on the road to recovery.

“Intervention” is a powerful and gripping series in which people confront their darkest demons and seek a route to redemption. The series profiles people whose dependence on drugs and alcohol or other compulsive behavior has brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each episode ends with a surprise intervention that is staged by the family and friends of the addict, and which is conducted by one of three specialists.

New episodes of “Intervention” and “Hoarders” air Mondays at 9PM and 10PM respectively on A&E.

  1. You have got to be kidding, no one likes this jerk or his family, much less believes this crap no one watches this junk. The only thing DOG and his possy(ahem) could catch is crabs in a whore house! If they ever come up against anyone real he and all of his possy(ahem) would be shot, that is the show I would watch.
